Te Puna Toi

Announcements

Richard Gough and the NZ Film Archive
Te Puna Toi is planning another collaboration with The New Zealand Film Archive. It is expected that this year the presentation will also include Richard Gough (Centre for Performance Research, Wales).

Archives
In 2011, researchers, practitioners and the general public will be able to access new material from the CPR archives. Free Theatre has begun a major archiving project with the help of Te Puna Toi.

Devised Theatre Exchange
Te Puna Toi is planning an exchange programme that would encourage more performance work in Christchurch via exchanges between the major centres as well as internationally.

E-Journal
An open access e-journal is being developed.

Hereafter
Still going ahead but postponed for now due to the earthquake. German playwright and filmmaker Werner Fritsch will be visiting Christchurch again to continue the collaboration with the Free Theatre (Faust Chroma, Enigma Emmy Goering and Nico Sphinx of Ice). Free Theatre has started work on another of Fritsch's texts, Hereafter, which will be presented during his stay. Te Puna Toi will organize an artist’s talk at the Christchurch Art Gallery and media interviews to make the most of Fritsch's visit. Fritsch will also be working with Free Theatre on his film project, Faust Sonnengesang.

Physical Address

Te Puna Toi is usually based in the Arts Centre. Following the February 2011 earthquake, however, the Arts Centre has been closed indefinitely. Te Puna Toi will, in the meantime, be operating out of the Theatre and Film Studies Programme at the University of Canterbury. Film Archive Interloans will be available to be viewed here and can still be organised through Te Puna Toi. We are also looking to set up the popular Medianet facility here, and will let you know when it's up and running.
